Red Dress Day
May 5, 2025

National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S+ (Red Dress Day)

Monday, 5 May is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ Peoples or also known as Red Dress Day.  NSMS and Parkland will be acknowledging Red Dress Day with a walk and an acknowledgement Assembly on the Parkland School track.  Parents are welcome to join us as we honour the memories of MMIWG2S+ and raise awareness about the ongoing violence and systemic issues affecting Indigenous communities.

We also want to emphasize that this is a day for all people and to bring that awareness and same remembrance and honour for all those who have gone missing or been murdered.

Instead of our traditional Monday Morning Assembly, we will head to Parkland and join with them for an Acknowledgement Assembly.  Please see timings below:

9:20 - NSMS leaves and walks on the sidewalk to the entrance of Parkland.
9:30 - NSMS and Parkland gather at the entrance to Parkland.
9:45 AM - Red Dress Day Acknowledgement Assembly
10:00 - NSMS walk back to school.
